John Lauritsen visited the Twin City Model Railroad Museum in St. Paul during the Summer of 2021. This segment was shown on the WCCO 4 News At Ten newscast.

John Lauritsen is an Emmy award-winning reporter from Montevideo, Minn. He joined WCCO-TV in late-July of 2007. Two days after he started, the Interstate 35W bridge collapsed.
Before his television career, John grew up on a farm near Milan, Minnesota and graduated from Montevideo Senior High School. He received a Master’s Degree in mass communications from St. Cloud State University, and has also taught a class there as well. He credits growing up on a farm and going to school in a small town with helping him become the reporter he is today.

The Museum
The Twin City Model Railroad Museum was started in 1934 and later was located at the St. Paul Union Depot downtown.
The Museum moved to Bandana Square in St. Paul in 1984.
It is now at a location near University Avenue near the old Amtrak Station.
The Museum has the internationally renowned O Scale layout as well as many different model scales including:
G – Garden – about 1/24th
Standard Gauge -1/32nd
O Scale – 1/48th
S Scale – 1/64th
OO Scale 1/72nd
HO Scale – 1/87th
N Scale 1/ 160th
Z scale – 1/22th.
Toy trains are also represented from different manufacturers including:
Lionel, American Flyer, Marklin and others.
Thomas the Tank trains are also exhibited.

The museum is currently operating Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
With COVID-19, there is reduced capacity, social distancing and masks are recommended.
Please make reservations for Day Trains or Night Trains as capacity is limited.
