Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena, CA is home to several large HO scale layouts and the ever-growing Eastern California Model Railroad is usually the main event. This month’s op session features another wide variety of model trains brought by different group members as well as my own collection.
This month featured a car clinic for folks to work on their model trains together outdoors safely. Several prospective members also attended including some new junior members and they learned how to work on model trains and how to use the layout. The adult session at 8pm was a lot of fun with our usual group banter.
Trains were run over all three sections of the Eastern California Model Railroad. The Surf Line Section is operational from Soledad Canyon in the north, to San Clemente in the south. Additionally San Diego to Encinitas is also complete. The Inside Gateway section is operational from Portola, CA in the south, and La Pine, OR in the north and basic scenery and structures are complete! The northern end of the layout is also complete from Seattle, WA to the top of Stampede Pass. The layout is open to the public weekends in December as part of the Christmas Tree Lane annual holiday display.
