I recently saw a video by @Mr Snooze on YouTube featuring two Triang L1 locomotives, one of them was 1757 in Southern Malachite green, this reminded me of very happy times early on maybe 1977 or so when dad would bring his 1757 L1 to run on my railway on Sundays.
An L1 was one of my two original locos, but was in BR green and numbered 31757, in later years dad repainted both his and my L1 into SR 1938 livery and upgraded the models with 5 pole motors and new wheels.
However I remember at the time being slightly sad that the bold 1757 would be lost.
Back in 2006 dad gave me an original Triang 31757 in BR livery so I had back my original, but after seeing Mr Snooze’s video I really wanted to try and add 1757 in its bright livery back to the collection.
From Rocket Railways I obtained one in need of TLC and this video will show you what I did and how I got on.
