In this video we are presenting one of two Atlas HO Scale Central Midland builds for clients in Pennsylvania. The system featured in this video is being constructed for Digital Command Control (DCC) while our other client prefers to remain Analog (or DC) in operations.
The track plan is directly from the Atlas Track Planning book. The system has been modified to the clients request to incorporate a roundhouse and logging switchback. Rail is Atlas Nickel Silver Code 83 with turnout control via Atlas Snap under table mounted switches. The roadbed seen in the video is actually spayed on Rustoleum Textured Paint that the client requested to be used to simulate ballast. Clean and efficient, this technique made a realistic appearance in short order.
The system was originally ordered in our Silver Series. Our client then upgraded to a Gold Series in the roughing in of scenery aspects as seen in the video. Once completed, the pike will have basic scenery that the client can complete at their convenience. However, the system will be fully operational and delivered in three modules weighing in under 245 lbs.
We offer custom model railroad construction in all scales, sizes and budgetary needs. Our “FlexPay” program enables clients the ability to construct systems to their space, skillset and monetary needs. All systems are offered with a one year free subscription to Model Railroader Magazine. This enables clients to continue fostering their model railroad skills while incorporating the latest technology in operating systems or motor power or simply brushing new or older techniques.
