We have made a train table for Calvin’s HO model train. For the structure of the table I started with the idea of a torsion box which is a structure with a thin skin on the top and bottom. It makes a very strong, lightweight, flat surface. The most common example of a torsion box is a hollow core door. I then added drawers to the spaces within the structure of the table. We left the bottom surface open so that we can run wiring for the train. The torsion box sits on 4 legs which are on wheels. The legs and drawers are removable to allow of the train table to be moved. Next will be to build the scenery and landscape for the train.
