Southern Pacific’s SD40T-2 Tunnel Motors were a common sight on the SP in from the 1970s through the 1990s. With this latest HO scale release, ScaleTrains is offering SP Tunnel Motors with 1990s era details. These locomotives have ditch lights, beacons, and plated over locations that once held oscillating and emergency lights. In this special double product review, Dan takes a look at two versions of this model. SP 8496 is in the Rio Grande style speed lettering scheme. SP 8556 is in faded traditional SP scarlet and gray. Both model train locomotives have ESU LokSound 5 series DCC and sound decoders, LED lighting, and incredible detail. If you’re a fan of the Southern Pacific you might want to check this one out!
