Early Piggyback Project 1949-1957 with some of the very first 85′ cars are featured in this consist. Simply a test of the rolling stock for final detailing and weathering will be implemented.
This is a 1956-1958 Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific trailer on flat car consist running with EMC FT/EMD F2 combination.
A continuing effort to reproduce an early consist of piggyback cars including 53′ modified flat cars, purpose built 53′ flat cars, and even a few of the newest in our era of modeling 75′ PRR F39’s in other road lease dress and in the earliest TTX “Trailer-Train” 1956 scheme. Also in the consist is a 1958 PS 85′ Union Pacific experimental TOFC car that later lead to the development of the 89′ TTX cars so commonly found after the 1970’s. Truly a unique train not often modeled of attempted by modelers due to its obscure history and some animosity regarding the trucking industry and its severe financial blow to railroading in the 1950’s. Still it’s a historic type of service and worth the effort to recreate in the King of Scales.
