The Epping Model Railway Queens Birthday weekend train show has one of the biggest and best 2nd hand train trader tables. You will find tons of model trains in a variety of makes and gauges. The trick to nabbing a bargain is to be there on the opening day and get ready to wrestle with a bunch of men grabbing at model trains. It’s quite amazing to witness! But there are more than just model trains and accessories, there are diecast cars, trucks, boats, books, railway signage, model houses and assorted toys. Over the years I have found lots of ERTL and Take Along Thomas & Friends toys. I tend to also grab the older Hornby Tri-Ang (Made in England) style of trains. From those I speak to at this manic selling spree lots of items are grabbed at a low price then thrown up on Ebay. And sure I do see some buyers grabbing all the cheap stuff that can easily be re-sold. But not everything sells! I do return on day 3 of the train show to see whats been left behind. Some items that have been ignored do surprise me while others don’t. The price point for this style of selling needs to be low as most buyers are looking for items well below retail or market prices even if it’s mint in box and unopened. Anyway if it doesn’t sell at this years show you can always try it on next year..As many seem to do! The Epping Model Railway Expo at the Brickpit is an awesome train show. Below are my videos of the 2016 event.
