Super amazing Model Railway Exhibition by Epping Model Railway at the Brickpit Stadium 2016. This years train show was massive Vs what was offered up in 2015. This video will show these model railway displays.
Brickslandia (Lego Scale) – Huge Lego City and Lego Train layout displaying some beautiful MOC Lego trains. Best of all parts of the main layout was the older classic metal powered Lego track that goes clickity clack. Lets hope Lego bring that back!
Wallerawang Junction (HO Scale) – Beautiful and technical model railway layout that uses DCC controls and a miniature video camera to give a drivers POV of the layout. Set in the Steam to Diesel transition this large layout is a trip back in time to when railways served a very important transport link west of Sydney. The detailing on this layout was excellent and the variety of trains and rolling stock kept everyone busy. I was even was able to get a Hand Of God shot!
Educational display, ASK ME HOW NOT TO BUILD A MODEL LAYOUT! This used static display pieces that showed the basics of model railway scale and miniature construction. Sadly the Kids Scenery Clinic was not running at the 2016 show. LETS HOPE IT’S BACK FOR 2017!
Bullo Pill (0 BR Scale) This historical and highly detailed layout depicts an English scene in the town Bullo Pill. It is mainly scratch built and uses many mechanical items to keep the layout operators very busy. A shunting style of layout that lets you see how things were done before things became easy.
Erbschaft (HO Marklin Centre Stud) German styled layout that uses classic 1960’s Marklin trains that have been handed down from Father to son. It’s not often you see Marklin represented at train shows so this display was a real insight into how good this major European brand is.
East Maitland (HO NSW Scale) This huge layout was owned by the Epping Model Railway Club until it was purchased by the Australian Model Railway association in 2010. The layout is based on the railway station at East Maitland and seems to be set in the present day. Mind you there is the occasional flashbacks of earlier times. What caught my eye on this layout was the advertising areas showing movie posters and other cryptic messages. This style of advertising is all through the NSW rail network but not often represented on model train layouts. I’ll have to admit this railway was running at full capacity with a huge variety of steam and diesel trains pulling both passenger and freight loads.
Because the 2016 train show was so huge I will split it into two videos. I may even split away one very special layout as a stand alone video because the owner of the layout did an epic display for me. As always the second hand area was manic on the first day and it’s amazing how much old train stuff sold. Sadly this year I did not find any Thomas & Friends items.
