In this video, we are visiting Marcel Segal’s model railroad workshop. Marcel is a railway enthusiast who lives near Paris, France. At the moment, he is designing a very large modular model train layout, which will later measure 12 x 3 meters. Three railroad modules are already completed. Finally, the N scale layout will consist of seven railway modules.
Marcel has modeled the train station of L’Arbresle, a commune of the Rhône department in Eastern France. L’Arbresle is located approximately 20 kilometers northwest of Lyon and is a railway junction in the French rail transport system. The railway line from Lyon-Saint-Paul to Montbrison and the railroad line from Le Coteau to Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d’Or meet at the train station of L’Arbresle.
In the course of time, Marcel will construct a great model railroad. Therefore, we get a preview of the three rail modules that are already completed. Much of his N gauge layout will be completely self-made or hand-made, for example, buildings, overhead wires (catenary), viaducts, lighting, landscaping, footbridges, trees, vegetation, stone walls, roads and signage. Marcel has a motto when model railroading: Trying to keep everything simple and inexpensive.
