Hakuho SL Railroad Park
back in 2020 I was delighted when my Hakuho Z scale layout was featured in Continental #sale_banner_orange 200); magazine and was even more pleased when it made its debut at the Macclesfield model railway exhibition and was very well received by the public. However even as we did the show the storm cloud of the pandemic was gathering and the next eleven shows it was booked to attend were all cancelled as a result
Forward to the autumn of 2022 and life started to return to normal as did the shows . Hakuho had spent the preceding months in the layout shed in its flight case and was in perfect condition despite the time in storage
I had plans for the rear of the layout. Scenically develop the fiddle yard to give 360% viewing but had realised that developing it as Hakuho town was not going to be practical. I had however seen an episode of Train cruise on NHK world TV that featured the Otaru museum and its railway theme park. Bingo!
The existing buildings and roads were cleared and a connection to the mainline put in. There are two distinct unconnected traks , The mainline connected running shed which steam excursions use and an internal seperate track that is the terminus of the abandoned logging line seen at the front of the layout
At its first outing at the Kendal 60th anniversary we ran mainly diesel and electrics on the Saturday and tested all the new track
