The Scale Trains “Big Blow” came out for the first time in 2016. It was an incredible “first” release, meaning the first locomotive by what would be considered an upstart company at the time. Since then, ScaleTrains.com has become a favorite of many modelers – and with good reason. The density of fine scale details on their “Rivet Counter” line of models is second to none, and their mechanisms are also very robust.
From the Scale Trains website:
These are the hallmarks of the Union Pacific Railroad’s unique GTEL 8500 Horsepower Turbine locomotives. Often called “Big Blows” because of their deafening noise, they roamed the less populated landscape between Council Bluffs, IA and Ogden, UT. 30 three unit sets were built between 1958 and 1961 and all were retired by the early 1970s.
