Romford Model Railway Society is sponsoring this build. Firstly I position a few things, and then I begin the tunnel. This is made from more Insulation Foam Board, some 2 inches thick, and some 3 inches. But of course you can just layer it up. I use ‘Hard as Nails’ or ‘White Stuff’ to glue it. When carving it out please be careful (or ask an adult to do it). You can buy it from large DIY stores and it costs £15-25 (2014 prices).
Make sure that your biggest locomotives can clear the tunnel sides and roof. Tunnel entrances can help you judge the size.
Here I also make a lake template, as I plan to make this separately at home, as it gives me time for the varnish to go off. Then I will stick the lake to the layout (in a later video).
Total time is 18 hours over 5 evenings so far.
