We are beginning the work of creating an army of figures for our large scale model railroad. Many of these figures will be permanently placed on the inside railroad, some will be placed on the garden railroad when we are operating, and some will be installed in the locomotives and passenger cars.
The newest figures are 3D printed. EXCITING and great figures. We acquired a few from ScaleHumans at Shapeways. These were sculpted by Richard Kapuaala who originally sold them as urethane castings, but has scanned all of his figures and is selling them in most scales as 3D prints. And they look GREAT!!

We also acquired a great figure from Sundance Central Railroad. They have a club and modular railroad, AND are making a few great figures in F and O scales, perhaps even HO scale? As it’s a group, not a manufacturer they make their own rules! So if you what something ASK. They may be able to print any of their figures in your scale whatever it is. TT sale? Perhaps…

We also have a hard-to-find figure by Ray Lamb (Superior Figures) of Wyatt Earp.. WOW.. From the 90’s Best known for his fantasy figures, Ray also made a few “old west” figures. HARD TO FIND…
We also bought a set of Preisler body parts. And Green Stuff… And made some fun figures that way.

AND we found a cheap bag of GREAT figures on eBay and now find they are bootlegs of Preisler figures that would cost $45 a set, and this is three of those sets for a few bucks… Ah, China… ANYWAY, GREAT figures… It’s a crappy thing to do… but we just bought two more bags of standing figures from the same seller on eBay.
Next week onto a deep dive into Karyn’s way of adding clothes to figures and using “green stuff” to create and dress figures. And then onto PAINT.
