This video is for parents of children who love Thomas & Friends and are thinking of getting in to model trains. It demonstrates the operation of the four major G-scale Thomas and Friends locomotives manufactured by Bachmann Industries, and gives a detailed explanation of the differences between the analog versions of these toy trains and the digital versions.
The video shows Thomas and Percy, equipped with factory-installed DCC, running on an indoor layout alongside Emily and James, who are operating in the traditional analog mode of operation used in model trains for over 100 years.
The digital sound effects built in to Thomas are demonstrated, as is a DCC control system by MRC which allows for operation of the trains via a phone or tablet.
Most of the products shown in this video are available from Trainworld.com
If you’re looking for a large analog-style train control system & power supply with enough power to run multiple G scale locomotives at the same time, consider the MRC Throttlepack 9900, as seen in this video.
If you are looking for a DCC control system powerful enough to run multiple G-scale locomotives and which can be controlled from a phone or tablet, consider the MRC Prodigy Elite control system with the addition of the MRC WiFi unit. For smaller layouts with only one or two locomotives, consider the MRC Prodigy Advance Wifi system.
