ScaleTrains recently released a highly detailed HO scale coil steel car. In this episode Dan reviews two of these model trains, a Conrail car and a Norfolk Southern car. The Conrail car is painted light gray, and the NS car is darker gray with a silver hood. These cars come with removable hoods and weighted coil loads. The models have all of the details you’d expect from ScaleTrains, including uncoupling levers, air hoses, freestanding grab irons, and a maze of underside brake plumbing.
Dan gives a rundown of each model’s packaging, prototype accuracy, paint & detail, and how well they operate and conform to applicable standards.
The RIP Track segment shows how Dan fixes any mechanical issues with both model train cars,. Dan also shows how to install the coil loads, load dividers, and hood guides.
