On April 5, 2014, I went up to Upstate New York just north of Albany to Troy where Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is located. At RPI, there’s a huge HO scale layout in the basement of one of their buildings. Twice a year (or so) they have open house operating sessions and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to go there with some of my train friends to run the trains. The train club at RPI calls their layout’s railroad the “New England Berkshire & Western”, a fictional railroad on this layout that depicts scenes in New York and Vermont. In this video, we see some of the trains that were operating during the operating session. I got to run three of them, but none of them are seen in this video because since they run the trains here like on a real railroad, my arms were full and it required a lot of concentration to be the “engineer” of those trains, but it was all fun. I recorded the footage for this video while taking a break from running the trains on the layout.
