Can you imagine how much fun it would be to have these huge model trains running on a gigantic layout in your back yard?
I visited the Bitter Creek Western Railroad, a privately owned layout in San Luis Obispo county, California. These trains literally run in the huge private property behind one man’s house. It’s not open to the public! Friends and family run the model trains on this layout just for their own fun… it’s not a business or a tourist attraction. For an elite group of model train enthusiasts, it’s just a fun way to spend a weekend.
This is a re-edit of some footage I shot at the Bitter Creek Western Railroad over the 4th of July. I noticed that my model train videos are very popular all around the world, including many countries where they don’t speak English. So, I thought I would take the footage I shot at the Bitter Creek Western Railroad and edit it in to a video with no speaking at all… just the sounds of the trains running on this big layout.
This was shot with a Canon EOS 80D camera and a Rode external stereo microphone. If you listen with headphones, you’ll probably hear some pretty good stereo sound effects as the trains move past the camera and microphone.
If you know of a model train enthusiast who would enjoy this video, feel free to share a link to this video with them! Also, I do read the comments here on YouTube, so post a comment if you have something to say!
