I’m sharing the Route 66 Lionel Model
of John Ruh. John & wife Darlene host a wonderful time for family & friends to visit their model railroad that features a trip thru historic on Route 66 from Chicago to California.
The layout started in 2002 and was inspired by model trains John remembers around his Christmas tree as a child. Also his family history includes his Grandfather John T. Ruh who worked as a Bartender for the Union Pacific
from 1936 through 1956 on a famous dormitory club lounge car called “The Little Nugget” which traveled from Los Angeles to Chicago.
John and Mike Erzen are with me today. Mike is a Chicago area Artist and he’s designed and build every area on the layout to represent a place on Route 66 with amazingly great detail. The engines, cars, scenery on the layout are of the highest quality, and many items are custom and hand built.
This is just a wonderful experience to view.
