In the basement of Paul McDonald’s Waterloo, IA, home is a fairly large S-Scale Model Railroad layout. Paul is the former President of the now defunct Hawkeye S-Gaugers Club. The club has been gone for more than a decade, but Paul’s layout lives on, and is perhaps the only operating S-Scale layout in the entire State of Iowa! This layout is also somewhat of an antique, as it uses Gilbert S-Gauge track from the 1950’s. The locomotives are American Models and have been custom painted. The rolling stock is a wide assortment of Gilbert, Lionel, S-Helper, and MTH. Paul’s layout is 33′ x 27′ x 20′. It is quite unique.
