Southern Pacific’s OANOT operated daily between the San Francisco Bay Area and New Orleans. Originating at Oakland, the train ran via Altamont Pass then down the Valley handling TOFC/COFC for El Paso, Pine Bluff, Houston and beyond. Depending on overflow traffic from the BACIT, the OANOT may have additional cars for City of Industry unless a second section was required. If this were the case, the train would operate via Soledad Canyon versus over the Palmdale-Colton Cutoff.
Running on an expedited schedule, we start off with a quick crew change at the SP depot in Bakersfield then across the not so flat lands of Magunden and Edison. From there we follow the train to Ilmon, Caliente, Bealville and other recognizable places over the Tehachapi Mountains.
The power includes Kodachrome SD45T-2 SP 9351, SD45T-2 SSW 9157, SD40R SP 7305 and SD45R SP 7556 with caboose SP 4386. Once over the mountain the train speeds across the desert for West Colton and points east.
All locomotives are equipped with Soundtraxx Tsunami / Tsunami 2 decoders and Current Keepers.
