The BIG Model Train Show 2012. Model Railroad show held at Pioneer Stadium, Christchurch, New Zealand on the 6th & 7th of October.
Nice selection of layouts and displays to see, from large scale rideons to micro. Scales included – G, OO, O HO, Gn15, On30, N scale model displays present.
My personal favourites were the layouts based on NZR (New Zealand Rail), most notable was the Hornby/Christchurch and the South Island West Coast based. Proberlly because I have lived in these areas most my life and I could relate to them more.Various logistics operators were represented from TranzRail, TOLL and KiwiRail.
Another awsome diorama was “The Stamping Ground”, a narrow gauge gold mine with upper and lower levels. It was hard to get good footage of it, as there was always a crowd in front.
Others present were the American layouts including US Route 66 with it’s many areas telling storys along the tracks including building fires, drive in movies, container yards etc., also european layouts based on English, German & French railway.
There were also some ‘work in progress’ layouts, I hope to see them again next year to see how they have progressed.
It was a very enjoyable show, even at 9: 30am Sunday morning it was busy! The Model Railway clubs present from all over New Zealand put on a great show.
Filmed with a Panasonic HC-V100 and GoPro cameras. Panasonic MTS files converted to mp4 with FFMPEG and footage edited with VideoPad editor on PC.
