We’ve lived next door to each other for a couple of years now, but the little boy next door didn’t figure out until now that I’ve got a house full of model trains.
He found out about my little secret when I made a layout that took the trains out in to my front yard on a beautiful spring day. Up until that point, the trains had mostly been out of sight… either inside my house, or within my back yard, shielded from view by our fence. I guess he never heard the train whistle blowing!
Maddox is a smart kid who quickly understood things when I explained how to control the trains… and before long, I handed over the controls and let him run things while I shot video.
I explained to him that I only set up the trains about once a month or so… but I wonder how long it will be before he’s knocking at my front door asking if we can play with the trains again!
In the video, we are running a Piko model 38212 G-scale steam locomotive which features realistic steam train sounds. The system is powered by a DCC power supply and operated via software on a Android tablet.
