How many people do you know that have a train door built in to their house? Only a serious model train fanatic would do that! When we sat down with our homebuilder to customize the design of our new home, a door for the model trains to get out to our back yard from our garage was the most unusual thing we requested.
In this video, I bring a LGB-brand model of the Santa Fe Super Chief out from the garage through the train door and run it over to our patio where I’ve got a layout set up with two other trains already running on it. The layout is quite unusual because it features three individual loops for the three trains, but each loop briefly shares one common section of track where there’s a chance of a collision if the timing isn’t working quite right. Luckily, the timing was perfect and there are no crashes in this model train video.
Besides the Santa Fe Super Chief, we also see two White Pass & Yukon Route Railway locomotives running in a doubleheader, pulling freight cars including a tank car that I recently added to my collection.
Also running on the layout is a LGB-brand model of a locomotive from the Rhaetian Railway, RhB, which has a European-style train whistle.
If you stick around all the way until the end of the video you’ll hear my funny voiceover as I wrap things up at the end. I was in a goofy mood as I recorded the voiceover and couldn’t resist promising something for the next video that would in reality have absolutely no chance of ever happening!
