This layout was purchased in 1978 and was a part of my childhood, helping solidify my life long love of trains. Flash forward a few decades, I buy a house, declare a train room and take possession of said layout, only to discover that the years have not been kind at all.
I’ve long wanted to uncover this piece of my childhood and have it available to enjoy in m own home, but buckled and corroded tracks have hindered my efforts. Plus I’ve never seen another piece quite like this one and find myself on the face about either restoring it, or modifying it to resemble a modern, more realistic layout. However the history of this layout, and possible importance to the hobby is a factor I can’t ignore. Hence one of the biggest reasons I made this video in the first place. Maybe someone out there knows more than I do, and perhaps I can crowd source an answer to all the questions this layout has brought fourth.
That aside, my adventure into learning about this device has brought me back into the hobby and is driving my desire to once again build the layout of my dreams. Subscribe and join me on this adventure! I will elaborate more about my plans for the train room, including year, location, railroad name, story and so much more. There is much planned and enough fresh content to keep us modeling for years!
